Beauty pageants aren’t outdated —Inna Patty

Beauty contests are not considered outdated, according to Inna Patty. She argues that events like Miss Ghana have transformed into a platform for empowering women to become leaders rather than just focusing on physical appearance.

In an interview with Daily Graphic, Inna Patty, the CEO of Exclusive Events Ghana, the organizers of Miss Ghana, stated that the pageant has shifted its focus from glamorous prizes to developing socially conscious women who can bring about change in their communities.

She emphasized that Miss Ghana is no longer solely about superficial aspects but has evolved into a program that empowers women through human development and social initiatives, such as the Miss Ghana Foundation and Miss World’s Beauty With a Purpose.

Inna Patty highlighted that in today’s society, where there is a growing demand for strong female leadership and social responsibility, Miss Ghana stands out by prioritizing project management, philanthropy, leadership, and intellectual growth.

She explained that contestants are now required to address critical social issues, propose practical solutions, and raise funds to implement community projects, turning them into active civic leaders who understand how to make a sustainable social impact.

Furthermore, Inna Patty mentioned that Miss Ghana has consistently showcased positive role models for young Ghanaian girls, emphasizing qualities like intelligence, compassion, and service to society rather than just physical beauty.

As Miss Ghana approaches its 70th anniversary next year, Inna Patty sees this milestone as a testament to the pageant’s resilience and continued relevance, tracing its origins back to Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah.

The pageant’s theme for the 69th edition, “Empowering Women, Enduring Legacy,” focuses on promoting female empowerment, cultural pride, and purpose-driven leadership, with applicants aged 18 to 26 being evaluated on various criteria such as communication skills, confidence, creativity, and personality. The winner will represent Ghana at the Miss World pageant and lead social projects through the Miss Ghana Foundation.
