KNUST student dies after falling from hostel building=

A second-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has died after falling from a storey building at his hostel.

The deceased, identified as Ransford Amankwah Asomani, was a Level 200 student pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Agribusiness Management.

The incident occurred on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at a hostel located at Ayeduase, outside the university campus.

According to reports, Mr Asomani was rushed to the KNUST Hospital by his colleagues, with assistance from a police patrol team, but he was pronounced dead on arrival.

In a statement issued on Monday, February 9, 2026, the University Relations Officer, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe, confirmed the incident and said the parents of the deceased have been duly informed.

He added that the KNUST Police, in collaboration with the University Security Services, have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“Management will provide further updates to the media and the general public as soon as all the facts are established,” the statement said.
