United States<\/strong> \u2014 The United States Women’s National Team (USWNT) is set to receive a significant financial boost from the U.S. Men’s National Team’s (USMNT) performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, despite not competing in the tournament.Under U.S. Soccer’s landmark equal pay collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), the prize money earned by either national team at FIFA World Cup tournaments is pooled and shared equally between the men’s and women’s player groups.<\/p>\n

The USMNT secured $16 million<\/strong> in prize money after advancing to the Round of 16 at the expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup before suffering a 4-1 defeat to Belgium<\/strong> in the knockout stage.In accordance with the agreement, U.S. Soccer retains 20 per cent<\/strong> of all FIFA World Cup prize money, while the remaining 80 per cent<\/strong> is divided equally between the men’s and women’s national team player pools.<\/p>\n

As a result, both the USMNT and the USWNT are expected to receive $6.4 million<\/strong> each from the men’s World Cup campaign. Based on a standard 26-player squad<\/strong>, each player would receive approximately $246,153<\/strong>, although the final distribution for the women’s team will not occur until after qualification and squad selection for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.<\/p>\n
